Psychedelic Danger

“It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong.” — Voltaire

Around 50-60 years ago when Tim Leary and Ram Dass were sharing the true wonders of psilocybin mushrooms — the U.S. president at the time Richard Nixon labeled Tim Leary “the most dangerous man in America.” (Now I am the “most dangerous” man in the world, not just in America.)

… Nixon later ended up getting impeached from office but not before he was able to make psilocybin mushrooms illegal in America. (Leary and Dass also got fired from Harvard around this time.)

That didn’t stop Ram Dass and Tim Leary from preaching the Good News of psilocybin mushrooms, and now, finally in 2023 we are seeing states in the U.S. and countries all around the world decriminalize and even legalize psilocybin mushrooms for therapeutic purposes.

In some countries it was never illegal, rightfully so as these mushrooms literally come from nature and are medicinal.

How has medicinal nature become illegal over the years??

I think I know why – governments are into power and control; they are not into enlightening people, but here’s the Good News!!

Even the governments are changing, opening up to psilocybin mushrooms and the vast benefits they bring.

Humanity is healing.

Slowly, but surely.

Kingdom Come.

Psychedelic “Nobodies”

“The game is not about becoming somebody, it’s about becoming nobody.” — Ram Dass

What does it mean to be no one?

It means letting go of your ego; letting go of who you think you are, to find out who you actually are, which is beyond identification, beyond words, beyond achievements and failures, beyond trying to be “someone” and enjoying being no one.

It really is a joy.

& now that I’ve become someone globally known, globally famous, one of my tasks is to become no one again.

Maybe one day you and I can meet in a place beyond the ego; beyond ego games, ego dramas, ego identifications, and we can just be, and enjoy life in the time we have together.

Following Your Path

“You do what you do because that’s what the harmony of the universe requires. If I am a potter I make pots.” — Ram Dass

Every life has its own unique purpose in this universe.

One of the goals of your life is to figure out your purpose.

There are many ways to discover your purpose.

One way is to take 3 to 7 grams of psilocybin mushrooms & see what ideas & epiphanies arise within you.

Another way is to try many activities until you discover something you enjoy doing, & then keep doing it until you become a master at it, & then get paid for it.

It is possible to get paid to do something you love, but first you must find your purpose.

“The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal. It can’t be organized or regulated. It isn’t true that everybody should follow any one path. Listen to your own truth.” — Ram Dass

Psychedelic Silence

“We’re fascinated by the words — but where we meet is in the silence behind them.”
― Ram Dass

This Ram Dass quote reminds me of this Terence McKenna quote:

“There is a transcendental dimension beyond language…It’s just hard as hell to talk about!”

There is a place beyond words where every Soul is welcomed & loved unconditionally.

It’s beyond ego.
Beyond biases.
Beyond the past.
Beyond the future.

It’s within the present moment.

The true present moment, which is always right now.

To get there requires practicing meditation.
Practicing letting go.
Practicing forgiving.
Practicing not judging.
Practicing seeing the Soul self in others & within ourselves.

And from this present moment – where & when we meet in this place beyond words, real magic is possible.

The Living Psychedelic Spirit

“Somehow the living spirit has to be brought with us. And this is really the high task for shamanism.”
-Terence McKenna

Here’s how I view this:

The task of shamanism is to connect people, humanity, all of us, individually & collectively, to our soul selves – our higher selves.

& our higher selves are very much alive, possibly in a dimension beyond, yet connected with this physical world.

Ram Dass calls this place “Soul Land”

& I think it’s real.

Psychedelic Politics

“Ideology is extremely alien to art. Political ideology I mean. And if you will but notice it is political ideology that has been calling the shots for the last 7 or 800 years. We can transcend politics if we can put some other program in place.
You cannot transcend politics into a void.
And I believe that a world without ideology could be created if what were put in place of ideology were the notion of the realization of the good, the true, and the beautiful, ya know.”
-Terence McKenna

Politics…

Are a part of just about all current organizations…

Politics…

Are the result of the human ego.

And we can transcend politics, but it will take time, focused collaborative efforts, & the use of psychedelic plant medicines, specifically psilocybin mushrooms, to transcend politics.

Ram Dass calls this place beyond politics “Soul Land” & that’s exactly what I’m talking about.

It’s a place of love.

A place where fear is less experienced.

A place of trust.

It’s, as Terence McKenna put it, “the realization of the good, the true, and the beautiful.”

It’s beyond ego while simultaneously recognizing, accepting, & working with the ego within us all.

& it’s a collaborative effort.

Lots of people are already working to create this positive change of Soul origin.

But there are also powerful people trying to keep things the same as usual…

It’s interesting that we are often taught to fear change…

It is fear of change that keeps things the same.

But change is often a catalyst toward a better future.

A future where love is our guide, not politics.

Dissolving Self with Psilocybin

“As you dissolve into love, your ego fades. You’re not thinking about loving: you’re just being love, radiating like the sun.”
-Ram Dass

I’ve explained the experience of my first psilocybin trip as if it were like I dissolved into the external world & became completely one with it.

How do I explain the experience of leaving my body? haha… it’s truly ineffable. It can only be experienced.

But to try — it’s an out-of-mind & out-of-body experience. It’s total trust in life, because you become one with life. There are no thoughts, but there is a feeling. & the feeling is complete bliss. It’s a knowing for certain, without a doubt, beyond thoughts, that EVERYTHING is perfect…The body knows for sure.

This can be defined as a mystical experience, and for me, psilocybin triggered this.

This didn’t mean that I was all of a sudden enlightened forever. All it was was temporary enlightenment, but this experience was so life-changing that I spent years working to integrate it into my daily life.

This is also why I created The Psychedelic Trip Journal — For you to integrate these experiences into your life.

But yea, my first psilocybin experience was in 2011 when I was a sophomore in college.

Ten years later, here I am. Integrating my integrations into the world, like so many before me.

One of the main reasons I am an activist for psilocybin & plant medicine is because they can evoke these mystical experiences, temporary enlightenment, and even if it only happens for one in a million, it’s worth it.

Our Soul Selves

“The Soul is our Real Self.”
— Ram Dass

Who is the Soul self?

It is your real self, beyond who you think you are – which is your ego.

The Soul self transcends ego – it transcends form, gender, race. It transcends the human experience, & it is who you really are.

But we’re not taught this by anyone.

You are given a name & told how to behave by parents, teachers, peers, authority figures…because they think they know…

What they “know” is just the result of a blind transferring of information from one generation to the next.

A few people wake up & create positive change in this life but it doesn’t happen often.

Except recently, possibly with the increase in technology, we are seeing more & more people wake up.

On that note though too, more & more people are becoming blinder than they’ve ever been..trapped in their ways, afraid of change.

So the integration of Soul is needed now more than ever.

We are all taking part in an imperfect progress of evolution, as all evolution works this way, but we now are gaining the power to shape the future of humanity.

& it’s a collective process, always.

This is how God works.

It’s quite amazing, especially if you’re able to zoom out & see a greater picture…to see a larger part of the whole.

& realize, it’s all I. It’s all you. It’s all me. It’s all we. It’s all connected.

This is Soul.

Notes During Last Night’s Psilocybin Trip

(Began around 5 something PM – probably more towards 6)

It’s moments like this, here & now, where I see everything — well, I want to say “everything”, but it’s more like

( I take a deep breath) it’s an understanding. & to anyone who doesn’t believe, that’s okay.

It’s real tho.

This is real.

I am real.

There’s nothing fake about this. I feel like I shouldn’t have to tell people this – that they should know it’s real – that they can feel it. But maybe not everyone can, yet… all I have right now is a big smile…a big smile for myself & for everyone, for life, for nature, for people, for everything. Wow, & sometimes I cry because it’s so vast… okay, so yes – integration is extremely important,, where can people begin?

—begin by Relaxing (there are multiple ways to relax — meditation, **laying down is actually wonderful** just lay down. & breathe.

& love— like the Greeks I believe have 7-9 different meanings of the word “love” whereas in English there’s pretty much only 1 meaning – or a few. But it’s broad. Anyway, there are different meanings of Love. (I’ve already written about this – I’ll pull it up from one of my word docs sometime later) anyway, lay down. Relax. Breathe. – (you already know – maybe, that I am writing in this moment like I am speaking to someone, to you, whoever you may be. I don’t know, but I’m writing this for the people – for anyone who is listening*****)

Integration — first, relax. Lay down. Breathe… My integration with psilocybin began 10 years ago – so, it’s been a fucking journey – a great one. Now(I wanted it then too) I want others to experience this. Love. Unconditional Love… idk & it doesn’t matter what ppl think – but One way to experience this is through deeply researching the Bible – like I’ve done throughout most of my life – beginning when I was like 11 or 12. I’ve gotten into other spiritual books as I’ve gotten older – currently I’m super into Hinduism & studying more of that. Buddhism is also amazing.

There are so many practical applications in these spiritual texts. & they’ve been around for a long long time. There’s a reason they’re still here… anyway, I want to help people integrate love into their lives, because it’s real love that they desire. We all want love.

As a few tears now stream from my eyes. It’s love. & I think that we need it. We need love. Real love.

As a few laughs from love come about – from within. Smile. Breathe.

So where can someone begin? – because psilocybin by itself may help a few experience love, but integration is what we need. Integration can help everybody. It can help anybody who wants to experience love. & everybody does. If a person says they don’t want to experience unconditional love – they are lying to themselves. Everybody wants to experience unconditional love. I think we need this now more than ever – in humanity – & that honestly, real love possibly can heal this world. Because we also all know that this world is a puzzle to say the least. It’s … there’s really no words to explain it — ****because it is Beyond Words!!!****

people, myself too, we often & maybe almost always – live in words. In ideas. But LIFE is NOT words!!!!! It’s beyond that. Real life is beyond words.

Unconditional love is beyond reason**** & humans, me too, we aren’t always reasonable – as much as we all like to believe we are..so this now leads me to thinking about our shadows. The “dark side” of humanity – which is within us all. Don’t try to say it’s not. It’s within us all. & you don’t need to judge it. What we need to do, I think, is learn to understand & accept the dark sides within us all. It’s really okay. It truly is. You’re not alone. There’s someone who understands — & it is you. Many organizations & whatnot have been created in fear – there’s a ton of fear within us all, within humans & animals. & fear itself isn’t a bad thing, it’s not. Fear can be good. But unconditional love is such a better experience. It’s limitless. It’s sooo vast.

So okay, integration. How to gently transition from fear to love*** this could be a book title ^^^. There’s so much “serious- ness” in this world. & everything is really, truly, not that serious. (I wasn’t trying to reference the joker there either)

It’s just – like Jesus & other spiritual leaders, Bob Marley, so many leaders – they say don’t worry. Don’t worry about anything. Everything is perfect. It is. But not everyone sees this – maybe most people don’t. I don’t know. We, as humans, from the poorest to richest, from the healthiest to the diseased , all of us are just a part of life. It’s really very simple, but we make it so complex – people make simple things complex. & that’s not needed.maybe it was then, but it’s not needed now. Now is a time for simplicity, like da Vinci spoke of – “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” & it is.

It really is. I think because there is a certain understanding within simplicity – like look at nature for example – trees – they are beautiful, & they are extremely intelligent. They grow & they don’t need humans to help them grow. Nature helps them – which we can also call god, because it’s everywhere. Again, it’s nothing to fear. You’re already here. Might as well experience love. It’s what you want anyway. We need love – humanity needs love. Unconditional love.

But it’s not something to  force. Love is Never something to force – ever. That’s why a gentle integration of it may be the best path toward it; to it. Because it’s here already. Love is here. & love casts out fear. I don’t know. Now I know I might be writing too much, haha. Again, it really doesn’t matter anyway. I don’t give a fuck. Right now I don’t, & right now I know what I know.

So integration, where can people begin? (- other than taking a large dose of psilocybin)

—begin by relaxing. Lay down. Get comfortable.

—then from here, hmm,,, sometimes I don’t know if anybody cares anyway – if anybody truly cares. This all might just be futile, blowing in the wind. It probably is. But while we’re here… ***But since we’re here*** … to meditate in Love – like when Ram Dass asked Maharaji about how to meditate – Maharaji closed his eyes, I think teared up, opened his eyes & answered, meditate like Christ. & ram Dass asked how Christ meditated,. Maharaji answered, “in love” or something like that. — & this now inspires me to read some of the gospels – especially Jesus’s words in the gospels… I was gonna write this in my notebook, but, fuck it. Anyone who is reading this, anyone who is listening, yea please do…Eternal perspective – & yes, it is out of this world. It is way way beyond anything the human brain can comprehend,, currently… also, I am not claiming to be jesus or anything… I’m just a person who is very interested in these studies.

I find this all fascinating.

Life is beyond words beautiful. I feel & experience unconditional love & I want others to experience this too. It’s magical. Truly it is. It’s the peace beyond understanding that jesus spoke of… & I don’t feel this transcendent presence 24/7, as you know, but right now I do.  – this is after ingesting some psilocybin a couple hours ago…

integration is so important. Without integration none of this can happen. We need to gently, very very gently, integrate unconditional love. It’s not impossible – as some think. It’s not. It is possible… I’m gonna eat another little shroom now too. Keep this going. I say with a smile. A big smile. A smile of love…

do you know what is so fucking important???

Clean water. (7:15pm currently) & water is what I’m about to go get from the kitchen. I’m gonna drink it too hahaha. Idk why that’s funny, but it is. Clean water for all tho, that’d be nice.

Long showers hold some healing within. (7:29 pm – taking a shower) , also many of the words I write can hold within them multiple meanings. This is intentional. – better said – is that most of what I write is straightforward, but some of what I write contains multiple purposes – all good. (7:56pm – out of the shower & dressed) back to my cabin. – dental hygiene is important. Definitely gonna floss & brush my teeth when I get to my cabin shortly…

so, integration, haha…I say with a smile, a loving smile. It’s all okay. It’s all life. For me – with integration, after relaxing & meditating & all that, I go to the gospels in the Bible, at least right now I do. Jesus’s words are incredible. They are powerful – powerfully healing – to anyone who listens – to anyone who wants healing – to anyone who wants unconditional love. So for now, I’m gonna read more of the gospel John. I’m in the third chapter & already reminded of the brilliance of this all. Inspired by God, or something divine. Most definitely… & unconditional love – for anyone who worries about this – it’s the opposite of worry. It’s nothing to worry about. Worrying won’t get you to Heaven. You are loved for who you are. Just as you are. THIS is unconditional love. Everybody has sinned and has fallen short of God’s glory, says the Bible, & this is true. But God or whatever this experience is, love us completely – just as we are, & completely knows all that we are. There’s no hiding from God, & that should be liberating – not frightening. Knowing that all everyone has ever done – God understands, & God love, without conditions. Unconditional love… now back to the gospel John. — also, I’d like to add some Hinduism into here too, because Christianity seems to scare the fuck out of some people haha. Understandably so – the church has room for improvement. Hinduism holds truths that are also just wow. It’s just that for me, personally, I began with the Bible & not just that I began with it – I like reading it. I also love reading Hindu texts. Buddhist texts.

Spiritual >>> Religious. (8:27pm)

8:32 pm – John 4:24… id like to quote so much of this gospel – & all the gospels. But for now I’m gonna continue reading… I feel so fucking good right now. So fucking good. (8:47pm)

(9:11pm – just got back from the kitchen – ate a piece of pizza & some leftovers, did dishes, organized some stuff in fridge, & now I’m back in the cabin… oh yea, can’t forget – I drink water sometimes straight from the faucet – literally I do, metaphorically it’s like drinking spiritual water straight from the source)

The Doors of Perception are open within me, throughout me, in this moment. Glory to god. This life is just wow. Beyond that. It’s beyond words… also, with the Bible – it takes a lot of discernment, prayer, & spiritual gifts to understand it’s main messages – because some of the Bible is out of date – it’s difficult to explain this – id have to write in depth about it – which I would love to do. I’m signed with God, but was gonna say something like someone should sign me now before everybody wants me. It’s that I am certain I have great gifts to share. & I want to share it all. It’s all happening in time anyway. & it’s something to smile about. A big big smile.

Love.

Unconditional love. (9:27pm)

John 6:31 “after all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! The Scriptures say ‘Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

—& now for integration, John 6:32-33 “Jesus said, ‘I tell you the truth, Moses didn’t give you bread from heaven. My Father did. And now he offers you the true bread from heaven. The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.’”

The next verse is hilarious, John 6:34 “Sir,” they said, “give us that bread every day.”

Hahaha. That is awesome though ^^. (9:39pm)

I feel so good right now – as I read the gospel John, & after eating psilocybin in the past few hours. I feel great.

But yea, integration…haha…it is extremely important… later in John 6 Jesus speaks of people eating his flesh & drinking his blood to get eternal life — yea this is not literal. He speaks in parables all the time. Just about all the time. I believe he is speaking of his words – the words of God. The Holy Spirit. – that people need to take it into their minds & eat it, & digest it, & really take it in. Because when you get it – when you really get it, it doesn’t go away. Quite possibly eternal. Also this is a paradox to human ways – because the way to experience Heaven is the most selfless actions you can make. It is complete selflessness that will get you there… gentle integration…

John 7:38 “Anyone who believes in me may come & drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (10:00pm)

psilocybin is seriously fucking amazing… I think many people tho who are trying to get into the psilocybin field don’t know what they’re getting into — especially people who are only looking for profit… & hopefully – my hope is that, well, I don’t care who comes into this field – & my hope is that the more they get into psilocybin plus integrations, the more they will understand & experience unconditional love. So it’s a win-win either way. It’s all good…as I read the gospel John still – some of these verses remind me of Atman in Hinduism – which refers to Soul – which I believe is the real essence of who we all are.  It goes beyond the physical. It literally transcends physicality. I want to share this message.

Ram Dass’s First Psilocybin Trip

“Psychedelics helped me to escape..albeit momentarily..from the prison of my mind. It over-rode the habit patterns of thought and I was able to taste innocence again. Looking at sensations freshly without the conceptual overly was very profound.”
—Ram Dass

Ram Dass, whose birth name was Richard Alpert, was Born April 6, 1931 in Boston, MA.

Here’s a short background leading up to his psilocybin story…

Ram Dass grew up in a middle to high class family and lived life “just like everyone else” — Pursuing all the things that society deemed would make him successful.

He became a Harvard psychology professor, had a nice house, a plane, nice car, and a bunch of “stuff” – lots of material items that made it appear to others he was successful, but it was during his first psilocybin experience that he realized his happiness was actually a facade.

Let’s talk about Harvard for a moment.

So yea Ram Dass was a professor and in his early years of teaching he became intrigued with this man down the hall named Timothy Leary — Ram Dass said he actually feared Leary a bit – that Leary was the only professor Ram Dass feared because Leary didn’t conform or concern himself with Harvard’s “serious ego-ness.” — with identifying himself superior to others because he is a Harvard professor!

They ended up becoming friends and in the early 60’s Ram Dass flew out to Mexico to meet Leary.  When Ram Dass arrived Leary told Ram that he just learned more in the past 5 hours from taking psilocybin mushrooms than he had previously learned in the prior 15 years of teaching psychology.

There weren’t any more psilocybin mushrooms at the time but Ram Dass was intrigued. On March 6th, 1961 during that year’s biggest snowstorm Ram Dass ingested psilocybin mushrooms with Leary & others at Tim’s house. (which was two blocks away from Ram Dass’s parent’s house)

Some of Ram Dass’s first experience when the psilocybin took effect was panic. He worried that Leary’s dog who had just come in from running around in the snow, was going to die because it was panting heavily. Leary’s son came downstairs and assured them it was ok.

Then as he sat alone in the living room he experienced an internal panic in a way — It was like a peeling away of layers of who he identified himself to be. He saw himself from an ego-less perspective and saw everything he was currently living for but the psilocybin has the effect of peeling all those things away and leaving a person with “nothing” — with just awareness.

Except before Ram Dass got to experiencing that awareness he was worried as all these layers were peeling away.

He wrote: “And what’s clearly going to happen now is that I’m going to be an amnesia case because I’m losing my identity. I wont know who I am.”

His panic increased and said that he wanted to scream, but he didn’t.

Psilocybin’s effects continued and Ram Dass reached this point..

He said:

“And I became aware at that moment that although everything by which I knew myself was gone, still there was something in me that was watching this whole process disappear.”

“And I remember jumping up and I ran out into the snow and danced in the snow. And then later I recall going back through the drifts to my parents home around five in the morning and deciding as a young tribal buck that I would shovel the snow in the front and I was shoveling and my parents came to the window and opened the window and said “You damned idiot come in, you don’t shovel snow in the middle of the night.”

“And I looked up and I heard this voice which was the kind of voice of external sanction to which I had always responded since that’s how I got to be where I was, and I listened to the voice inside and the voice inside said it’s cool if you want to shovel snow, its all right, there’s nothing immoral about that. And I looked up at them and I smiled and I danced a bit of a jig and I went back to shoveling.”

And the window closed and I saw them smiling behind it.”

He goes on saying: “Well now I was presented with a peculiar dilemma, because the next Monday when I had to get up and give my lectures in human motivation – the theory of ego psychology which I was expected to present as a responsible member of the psychological community, I saw, was not adequate to the experience I had had. Because that place that I had gone to, I couldn’t find it in the book. I couldn’t find it in the book anywhere.”

“… And I couldn’t find the words to tell anybody about what had happened and I hid behind what we all got to use quite frequently of ‘This was an ineffable experience. I’d like to tell you about it but it’s ineffable. Sorry.”

Here are some of my favorite Ram Dass quotes:

“You may have expected that enlightenment would come Zap! instantaneous and permanent. This is unlikely. After the first ‘ah ha’ experience, it can be thought of as the thinning of a layer of clouds.”

“We had gotten over the feeling that one experience was going to make you enlightened forever. We saw that it wasn’t going to be that simple.”

“If you think you’re enlightened go spend a week with your family.”

“In most of our human relationships, we spend much of our time reassuring one another that our costumes of identity are on straight.”

“A fellow satsang member asked Maharajji how to meditate, he said, “Meditate like Christ.” I said, “Maharajji, how did Christ meditate?”
He(Maharaji) became very quiet and closed his eyes.
After a few minutes, he had a blissful expression on his face and a tear trickled down his cheek. He opened his eyes and said, “He(Jesus) lost himself in love.”

“There’s nowhere to go, there’s nothing to accomplish, there’s no merit. It’s just this, just this.”

“We’re here to awaken from the illusion of separateness.”
